Dear All,Please apologise my ignorance, I am new to the Windows Server products.I have tried to install Windows Server 2008 and 2012 on an IBM x3850 M2 server. The funny thing is that I could install Windows 7 without any problems but the installation of both server versions is telling me 'No drives were found'.What is the difference which I do not understand? What can I do to solve this problem? Thanks in advance for your feedback:-)Cheers,JuergenI'm afraid this issue is with the particular LSI controller driver in the X3850 M2.

I posted this about a year agoand despite many suggestions, there was no resolution. I tried a bunch of other RAID controllers, but most of the cheap ones I found were based around the same family of chipset and suffered from the same issue. You can find my old thread at. Microsoft have released an update for 2012 R2 after a recent update managed to break.other. LSI based chipsets - the issue seems to be when the RAID driver loads high in memory (over the 4GB threshold) - so likely a dodgy bit of code that alwaysassumed something internal to Windows would be 32-bit.Perhaps try removing all bar 3/4 GB of memory during Windows setup?

Or perhaps try slipstreaminginto the Windows 2012 R2 installation media. I'm going to give that update a try in a day or two, as I'm curious whether or not it'll bring my 2 x IBM X3850 M2's back to life. Hi all,I've managed to get this partially working by booting Server 2012 R2 via USB.You'll need USB storage with the RMB (removable media bit) set to 0, this is so the storage presents itself as a 'local disk' to Windows. Once you have this, extract Hyper-V Server 2012 R2 WIM to a VHD and use 'bcdboot' to make it bootable. The Hyper-V Server R2 (not full fat) distribution is a requirement as it loads the USB drivers at boot instead of on-demand, if you use full fat it will error out with 'INACCESSIBLEBOOTDEVICE'.Follow this guide if you need help: https://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ee731893(ws.10).aspx.
